Now I get it

There are some things that you have to experience for yourself to truly understand what they mean. Parenting is full of such moments. I've heard parents say that it was too quiet, so they knew their children were up to something. I thought I knew what they were saying. I had no idea.

Why is he sad? Because I took the marker away and wouldn't let him have the camera. He didn't seem to mind his scolding.

squint and you can almost make out his swirly work on the door.

Other things I learned or was reminded of today-

-dry erase marker is permanent on walls, doors, carpet, sheets, blankets, mattress pads, shirts, socks, and little boys. Boy he moved quickly!

-our eggshell finish walls do not like the magic eraser.

Apparently I didn't learn my lesson because I'm in here blogging while he's awake. No worries, though. I can hear him playing with his blocks.

HOWIE!!!!
A painful lesson to learn, but one we all must come to. Eggshell paint finish sucks with kids. It is the reason there is still pen on my bathroom door and my bedroom walls.

It's all about being able to hear them, little sneaks.

Last night, after you left, he got ahold of the markers and promptly tried to eat them like a popsicle.

I thought the markers were safetly buried in the junk drawer. How'd he get them?

This particular marker was the dry erase one I used while I was working this morning. He always tries to get them when he comes in after my shift. Usually I make a big deal about him helping me put it away back on the big whiteboard on the wall and he's fine with it. I guess I didn't notice him grab it today.

ROFL! My kids are quite the artists also.. but with Sharpie. Thankfully fingernail polish will remove that!

Have ya tried a magic eraser? I've used many of those because I live with two little artists.

Welcome to toddlerhood. We have dry erase marker on our wood floors. And paint EVERYTHING wih semi-gloss or satin. (Lowe's guy said it's best for kids!)

I have a child who wrote her name, on her wooden bed, reversed (like looking in a mirror) and tried to blame it on her two year old brother. Nice try! All writing utensils are banned from her room, but still seem to find more hieroglyphics on the bed.

Howie looks so sad! You seemed to take it well. I'm dreading the day that this happens, because Tornado T will have to find a new place to live before Grumpy D comes home from work.

Valarie,
Ask Matt whether he remembers markers or perhaps it was crayons, Dara, and a certain gold living room chair and yes you seem to have taken it much better than I.

Matt remembers the yellow chair vividly, and Dara most days, but no incident involving both of those and either crayons or markers. I think he's choosing not to remember because he would have been at least a few years old to have an able accomplice.

I have to laugh, as I know what dry erase marker does to paint. Believe it or not, but it was not one of my kids that colored on the wall. It was the neighbor kid - the thing that made me the maddest is that I had JUST gotten done painting Taylor's room earlier that week.

My kids have colored on walls - but usually in crayon, which is much easier to get off. You don't have to strip the paint. LOL
