How sad are we?

Doesn't he just look pitiful?
Char and I were going to meet up with some other blogging moms this morning. After taking 15 mintues after she arrived for me to get the carseat installed and gather everything from my house, then stopping for a certain 6 year old to use the bathroom, not knowing exactly where we were going (should have printed the directions of google maps the other day) and then parking on the wrong side of the park, we arrived at the playground just as the other four moms sped off. Everything added up to us missing the last van pulling out by about 10 seconds. I am so bummed!
We thought that was the shortest playdate ever, until I asked another mom at the playground if they had mentioned where they were going. She asked if I was Valarie and I got all excited that maybe one had stayed behind to see if we showed up. She wasn't part of the group, but said they were going to a shady park on the other side of the interstate.
While Char called BC to see if he could figure out where one was, I slathered Howie in sunscreen. A few minutes into wandering around on the other side of the interstate to see if anything looked promising, he started freaking out. I thought he was hungry, tired, mad or all three. I handed toys, snacks, a sucker... anything I could think of back to him, but nothing worked. We finally decided to let the kids run loose at Burger King. Given the red and puffy eyes, I'm pretty sure he rubbed sunscreen in them. Maybe I should give up on my plan of keeping him rear facing for as long as the carseat will allow.

I think he looked even sadder in real life. Thanks for the adult conversation.
:o
yeah, it's hard to keep him frowning once you've fed him french fries.
very pathetic looking. i seriously considered calling in sick to join in the playdating fun. maybe it's a good thing i didn't? sorry you both missed it, though :(
Such a sad little face! I'm sorry you guys missed your playdate!
Aw. I have a pic like that of A-Boy.
I have met ABC Momma twice. Cool girl, that ABC Momma. You totally missed out.
AGGGHHHH!!!! I am DEVISTATED!!! I had no idea you were going to come! I am seriously SOOO sad! That park was SOOO hot with no trees that at about 10:45 we high-tailed it to the Layton Commons Park. I am so sad we missed you! Next time. I hope there are no hard feelings!
Oh that is such bum deal. Sunscreen in the eyes is no BUENO. Fries are a great comfort food.
I can feel the sadness!
This is just evidence that I will be a shut-in for the rest of my life if I don't have another adult to help with kids in the car and errands...
He looks very cute, but tired.
Poor H! Do you know who is going to be in Utah this week?
My word verification word is gooyls. I don't know why, but that strikes me as really funny.
