We're moving to Canada

Socialized medicine, here we come!

I spent so long this morning trying to straighten out medical bills from last September that the battery started to die on our cordless phone. Of course, it might have been knocked loose when I threw the phone across the room at one point. Before you start recommending anger management courses, let me say that I didn't throw it far. It's a small office, so across the room is only like 1.5 meters (I'm practicing the metric system). And I threw it down, into the carpet. It's not like I smashed it into the wall or anything.

Insurance helpful, but a pain in the A** - we got penalized $250 for not letting them know we were having a baby - only after 9 months of prenatal appointments

Seriously a joke. #2 was 9 months old before the epidural I had when I gave birth to him was paid for. The other thing I HATE is that no 2 people at the dr's office or the insurance company can ever give you the same answer.

Jenn told me the other day she has to prove Kaylee is theirs. After 10 years of marriage and two prior children.

Love,
MOM

The insurance situation in canada isn't as great as might expect, a surpising number of things are not covered. However I have lived in the states before and I agree with you, the insurance companies there are completly insane. They tried to tell me I had to pay for something just because the doctors office filled out the form wrong. 1 year later and millions of phone calls it finally got settled!

I also have been dealing with hospitals and insurance companies and my only comment is that you have control only throwing the phone and only at the floor. MM

remember how the hospital charged my insurance company for Kelly's circumcision? (ps. for those that don't know, Kelly is female) Apparently my insurance company doesn't even care.
I'm just telling you this to hopefully bring a giggle or 2 to your day. And ditto Sabey...very controlled of you.

Yeah, sure "the carpeted floor." I'm so calling 911 on you for telephone abuse.

I hear you about insurance companies... fortunately I haven't had such a negative experience but I've certainly spent more time on the phone than I'm happy about.

Before you make any rash decisions on how "wonderful" Canuckland's socialized medicine is, consider this: My sister-in-law just got back from sitting in the ER for 10 HOURS before they could see her. And this happens everytime. Sure, it's covered by what help is that if we're all dead by then? :-)
