Mother's Day
Last year was my first Mother's Day as a mom. I fully intended to bask in the adoration heaped upon me by my loving husband and son. Well, Matt has little use for made up holidays and Howie was barely rolling over. He couldn't very well turn cartwheels from the joy of being my son. This year I've come a lot closer to Matt's way of thinking. I did send my mom a card and call her today. We spoke for nearly an hour, which has got to be a record of late. (of course, Howie also wants to call her every day, so we catch up in little bits all through the week). Forget the ego boost, instead I spent much of today reflecting on how greatful I am to be a mom.It started last night when I went to bed. I could see Howie snuggled up in the crook of Matt's arm. I couldn't help but smile because it meant at least an extra foot of space on my side of the bed. I mean, smile at how sweet they are together and how happy I am that I get to share my life with them. I am so thankful that I got to know Matt as a dad. I am so in love with him as the father of my son. He's a much better parent than I am. Sure, Howie would probably pick me if it came down to it, but I've got the boobs he's so fond of. Take those out of the picture and Matt's ahead of me in almost every respect.
Here they are today sharing an orange-

Not a glamorous picture by any means, but a true depiction of our life- Matt down on the floor in the crumbs, sharing something he loves with Howie. I love how Matt looks dorky and Howie is practically naked and that they are just content.
Howie *really* liked the orange

Some day when he's a teenager, he's going to hate me for putting that on the internet- probably along with anything else I do. At that point, remind me how I am to be his mom.

Happy mother's day!
What cute pics and a great post. That is what being a mother is all about - the simple moments and the unglamorous ones!
That Atari shirt really completes the 'dorky' look. ;) Happy Mother's Day!
Amber, I'm not even going to tell you how many Atari or similar shirts he owns.
